Sublime Stitching

One of my favorite on-set activities (between takes only, of course!) is embroidery. Stitching is so cathartic, and it's a great stress reliever. One of the actresses on a past show got me fully hooked and now I do it all the time. If you are reaaaaaly lucky, I even make gifts.

This one is actually a wedding gift I made for my dear friends Joe and Sandi May.

Handy pirate tote bag made two Christmases ago for my lovely sister Mary.

This one is actually a work in progress, for myself. A lil homage to my kidney adventure on an American Apparel bag that Melissa gifted to me while I was sick.

Melissa also gifted me some cute patterns from my favorite embroidery site Sublime Stitching.

This is a great resource for inspiration, as well as patterns, textiles, and tools. It's run by Jenny Hart, this crazy hipster crafter. She is actually teaching a class here next month that I am super excited about.

This is the Ultimate Kit and what i would recommend you start with. It has everything you need to get started, as well as getting to pick individual patterns to stitch. Check it out!
